The Scale Breakers ~ Chubby Chaser

We've all been there...hangin' out in the club when that pop-funk-crap-dance track comes on, and all the 'ladies' hit the dance floor like gazelles at a watering hole in the savannah...then it happens...somehow this terrible, yet catchy as hell song gets the whole club movin' side to side...We've all seen it, and shook our heads at it too...before doing the 'superman' or the
'harley throttle' of course...So with that in mind comes this offering from the upcoming 'Leftovers' album, entitled 'Chubby Chaser'...This infectious tune gets the hips of all ladies in the place shaking, and the necks of the dudes breaking...

For years the Independent Western Canadian duo searched for a way to cross over into that 'pop' genre, without sounding like damn sellouts...You know who I'm talkin' about, those dudes who spit out premeditated lines and get formed like silly putty by label big-wigs?...Uh uh, not happening...Cue a late night in front of the keyboard, a couple later night cigarettes and I'm sure a Kush influence of some sort, along with a concious effort from SUBS to put something substantial together, and voila. What SUBS felt he had was a tool to access another fan base, and quickly looked to his peers for approval...Now early reviews were not too promising, as Manager and confidant Darcy 'dEtAiL$' McBride shit all over the first listen, asking him bluntly where he had obtained the ecstacy the previous night. In his head however, D knew SUBS was on to something, as did his partner in rhyme Guy Woods and Speechless Beats. Immediately Speechless hopped in the captain's chair to clean things up a little, and add those last little touches that only a guru of his stature can apply...

The only difference of course...is that this record isn't corny, whack or a joke...it's just a little explanation of the tough life these 2 big men face, with women literally throwing themselves all over them...sort of...In all seriousness though, SUBS really hit one out of the park with the production here. This is the lone production job on the album by the SB Soldier, and it doesn't disappoint. A synth heavy medley brings this track to life, and Guy Woods' cooler-than-a-mug flow finds a home over a simple and catchy hook...definitely one you can shake that ass to, or as we like to do, the 'We Don't Dance', a little move coined by B-Sharp teammates, The Shottas...
